Trump Is Raging At Nat. Sec. Adv. Gen. H.R. McMaster, Because Of This Sad Reason…
One of Trump’s few choices that both Republicans and Democrats praised was appointing General H.R. McMaster to National Security Adviser.
McMaster is a well-respected figure in the defense community and Washington, and many believed that McMaster could provide order to a chaotic White House.
But there is one person who doesn’t like Trump’s pick: Trump.
According to White House officials, Trump “has clashed with McMaster in front of his staff.” Meanwhile, those loyal to Trump are creating road blocks for McMaster.
Bannon is “convinced McMaster is trying to trick the president into the kind of nation building that Trump campaigned against” while Reince Priebus is trying to block McMaster on a key appointment.
Trump seems “disillusioned” with McMaster, and McMaster doesn’t appear to understand Trump.
During their briefings, McMaster lectures Trump and doesn’t allow him to ask many questions.
And despite Trump saying “I couldn’t be happier with H.R. He’s doing a terrific job,” White House officials paint a different story.
According Eli Lake at Bloomberg:
Trump was livid, according to three White House officials, after reading in the Wall Street Journal that McMaster had called his South Korean counterpart to assure him that the president’s threat to make that country pay for a new missile defense system was not official policy.
These officials say Trump screamed at McMaster on a phone call, accusing him of undercutting efforts to get South Korea to pay its fair share.
Trump has even grumbled in front of McMaster that he was “undermining my policy.”
Their feud is seen in public too—when Trump met with Australia’s Prime Minister, outgoing deputy national security advisor K.T. McFarland went instead.
So, the only person liked on both sides of the aisle, Trump is ostracizing.
The hope Washington had in McMaster’s position might prove to be a false hope after all.
